Résumé : |
Every year, the Journal receives for review many individually submitted articles. Periodically in Part I we publish a group of these articles that share a common theme. This is the case for five of the six articles in Part I which focuses on teachers, mainly in schools, but also to a lesser extent in higher education. It examines issues associated with their recruitment, competences and evaluation. The article by Janet Looney was commissioned for this issue to cover a topic that is perceived as increasingly important to develop high quality teachers and on which we wish to encourage more submissions about research and policy developments in Europe and beyond. This first article takes an international overview perspective, while the others are case studies from specific countries. The articles in this issue, taken together, present a range of key issues for education systems.
For this issue, we have also chosen to link the articles in Part II to the main theme by publishing two centred on PISA (one analysing the impact of PISA on policy and the other drawing on data to understand the impact of pre-existing policy on achievement). A third article focuses on academic support for student teachers in higher education. The last article deals with complexity and instability in the UK VET system. Before presenting the individual articles, a few remarks on the context. |
