Résumé : | This special issue brings together eleven contributions that shed light on the phenomenon known as sustainability entrepreneurship, a term we use to describe commercial ventures that are created with the express aim of achieving a specific social or environmental goal. Such ventures are not new, but the manner of their creation, the way in which we conceive of and speak about them, remains under-elaborated. Indeed, a primary purpose of this special issue is to operationalize sustainability entrepreneurship so that entrepreneurs, enterprising managers, teachers and researchers can work more effectively in their practical, pedagogical, empirical and conceptual endeavors in this area. In our call for papers, we stated that we aim to achieve this via the concept of the business model or, more precisely, via the related notion of sustainability-oriented business model innovation. If there is one question that ties the contributions together, it is the following: How do entrepreneurs develop, implement, and revise their business models in the service of sustainability? |
