| Résumé : | The present chapter analyses skills development and matching, a fundamental issue for the functioning of labour markets in the EU. It starts with an explanation of the concept and definitions behind ‘skills’ and with a presentation of the current economic backdrop. In Section 2 it then examines a number of problems around skill mismatches, monitoring and forecasting skill demand. Then, before concluding, it presents some policy recommendations: better education and training, Active Labour Market Policies (ALMPs) and recognition of skills and qualifications. (source: report) |
