Résumé : | The purpose of this paper is to highlight the particularities of continuing training models in France and Denmark in order to examine their differences and similarities. This comparison will underscore how the incumbent systems reflect the positioning and dialogue between domestic public policies, labour market stakeholders, vocational training institutions, the unions and employers’ federations. Although recent reforms (in both countries) aimed to improve the appeal of the training systems, we will show that the repercussions (with respect to participation, for instance) are far from identical. The paper is split into three sections: after having given an overview of the Danish and French continuing vocational training models, the second part will cover the differences and similarities of participation in training in the two countries. We will then review the impact of social and economic models on the development of, and the importance bestowed on, vocational training in Denmark and in France. |
